Music and Movement for infants, toddlers, preschoolers and kindergarteners... and the grown-ups who love them!
WINTER SEMESTER: Monday, January 9 - Monday March 14, 2017
Hello Everybody... it's time to make Music Together®!
The winter semester will feature the STICKS Collection of songs, rhythm and tonal patterns and instrumental play-alongs. We will be drivin', turnin', screechin', singin', and sleepin' while singing "Ridin' in the Car". We will spin our fingers, fists, arms and whole bodies to "Spin and Stop". We will click our rhythm sticks to many different levels of the beat in "Stick Tune". We will drum to "Follow Me Down to Carlo Town" and ring resonator bells and triangles to "Blow the Wind Southerly." While most of the songs and chants will be new to the parents and children, there are a few old favorites that you'll quickly recognize such as "Pop! Goes the Weasel" and "When the Saints Go Marching In."
Each song will be accompanied by a small or large motor movement or a percussion instrument. We will sing with high and low voices, tap, clap, jump and stomp to learn rhythm, and explore and make music with drums, bells, sticks, triangles, tambourines, maracas, egg shakers and more. Although the children will believe that Music Together is only play, they will be learning Basic Music Competence: to sing in tune and to find and keep and accurate rhythm.
As always, we will begin each class with the "Hello" and end with the "Goodbye" song. The children will learn that these songs signal the beginning and ending of class. We believe that it's important to greet and acknowledge the children, parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and caregivers who will participate in class, and the children just love to hear their name sung in class. The class will continue for 45-minutes of live music making! Let's make Music Together!
